Division of Real Estate - 2017 CE Appraiser Update Course

The Division of Real Estate will offer the Conservation Easement Update Course online for CE appraisers and community members to take. Click here to access the 88-page course book. Click here to register for the online course with Emily Griffith Technical College.

The Colorado Real Estate Appraiser Licensing Act requires the Board of Real Estate Appraisers (BOREA) to establish education and experience requirements for appraisers who prepare appraisals for conservation easements for which a tax credit is claimed. At the Board meeting held on May 5, 2016, the Board adopted continuing education rule 7.25. The rule requires all licensees who prepare a conservation easement appraisal for which a tax credit may be claimed to complete the “Conservation Easement Appraiser Update Course”. The rule is in effect for any conservation easement appraisal with an effective date of January 1, 2017 or later. Pursuant to section 12-61-727(3)(b)(IV), C.R.S., an appraisal will not be considered credible if the licensee has not completed this course prior to the effective date of the appraisal.
